Years ago a friend made me a spice rack smaller but similar in shape of a coke bottle case. She then used baby food jars & lids to put the spices in. The lids were painted to go with my kitchen and names placed on the top. I am still using it. These were great examples also.

Great idea. I will be making one or two of these for myself and maybe some Christmas gifts!! I just have one question. The measurement for the wood shelves. I noticed they are a little shorter than the top and bottom pieces. What is the measurements for the four shelves? Thanks for the inspiration!

This is especially awesome for when you buy spices in bulk and end up with a bunch of little plastic bags everywhere (ok, that could just be me.)

I actually found some amber jars with lids for less expensive than the little tins. Now I need to make this rack for sure.

(Great tip about the waterproof paper for the labels. I just did a quick Google search and found waterproof ink jet labels. Sweet!)
