rj – Well, if there is a way to use a hanger at the bottom (with or without the actual hanger), I haven’t quite figured it out. I’m open if anyone has any ideas.

You are definitely a genius. Had you thought about using a second hanger at the bottom of the picture with or without the hanger itself, meaning just the wood piece, to possibly level out the picture both away from the wall and to balance the top one?

That is very cool and would make a good Christmas gift or kid party favor. Kids could also decorate the hangers and/or mats. BTW, I found you through stumble upon.
