Lorrie – The baskets alone cost $63 plus tax. The wood was about $75. My best guess for the total cost is about $150. It’s definitely my priciest project on my site because it’s built from scratch, but I don’t think the cost is unreasonable for a custom piece like this.

This website is AWESOME! I LOVE YOU! I have a million and one projects of yours to accomplish now. Can you tell me how much this ended up costing. I have to travel 3 hours to get to IKEA and I need to budget. Could you tell me the approx. cost of the baskets and if possible what the wood cost. If not that’s fine too….I am going to make it anyway!! This is so exciting. Thanks again. You are amazing. You are an inspiration.

I have been looking at a tv stand I have it has a longer top and under neath two open sections in the middle, and on the sides one long open area ..i’m thinking possible for the large speakers we used to have on our old stereo system. I’ve been wanting to try to find the wicker baskets to make myself some drawers, I hadn’t figured out how to do shelving to fit. I’m hoping I can find someone to help me measure and put in the drawers for the wicker baskets..I’d like to also build *well have built) the one you have here. I was so excited when I saw this beautiful piece of furniture that I’ve been trying to work out only using my old tv stand!

Cristin – Absolutely! You could spray paint the baskets and paint/stain the wood any color you want.

I love this. What would you do to create in a different finish? Would spray paint work on the baskets to make the unit black or dark brown?

Sheila, I used pine boards that were pre-glued together to create a wider plank (found at The Home Depot). There’s actually no finish on it, but I recommend using clear Briwax to protect the wood, and you’ll get the same look.

Thanks for the instructions on how to do it, makes it look pretty easy. And the wood is simply gorgeous, any kind of wood in particular? That wood has a real nice finish to it!
