I have a few patterns for crocheted wristlets/fingerless gloves that I have found so nice around the house! They keep hands a warm but--unlike mittens--fingers are not covered so are free for any task that might require mittens to be removed. Email me (ladeej151@gmail.com) and I can send them to you.

What a talented great-grandmother you had !! I love the way you have displayed these pieces and the fact that you cherish them and take such good care of them. Merry Christmas and a very healthy, prosperous New Year !
