a handy tip for making pillows (a very handy book is Singer Sewing Projects for the Home; great visuals; find it at resale book shops) is to make the pointy ends so they don’t dog-ear by basically cutting off the pointy corners 1/2 inch towards the center and marking each side to taper then cut to meet each corner cut and then sewing the side seams.

I also changed my living room from red-fuchsia-orange to chocolat-aqua. And for the first time I have a borrowed sewing machine and I am determined to learn how to sew. I think this would be a great project, thanks for sharing!
