Sara – Normally you can paint veneer if you prime it first. I’m not sure how well it will work on buckling veneer, though. Worth a shot. You could also try replacing the veneer that’s buckling. Good luck!

This is superb! I have an old library cart but it’s plywood, I think—anyway, some kind of cheap veneer that is buckling because it was left out in the rain. Do you think I could paint it with latex, or does a project like this require a decent wooden base? Many thanks if you can answer this question.
