I love these glitter-encrusted Christmas ornaments. I plan to leave them up past the holidays. It’s nice to have a little sparkle around. Here, I mixed my mom’s antique oval mirror with a couple of large mirrors I found on Craigslist. For the small rectangle one, I cut a 12- x 12-inch mirror tile (found at Lowe’s) to fit an 8- x 10-inch thrift-store frame.

Wow! I have the exact same antique oval mirror as your mom’s. I had never seen one like it before, until I ran across mine at a garage/yard sale during the summer. I loved it immediately! It is so pretty! Very feminine. I thought it was unique, but maybe it is more common than I think :)

Yep, Karen, I think those mirrors were fairly popular in the 1940s. I’ve seen them at antique malls as well. I love them too!

Can you give some advice on what words you “searched” in Craigslist to find the mirrors? I gave it a try yesterday, before I even saw your post, and didn’t have any luck with any good finds. But, I’m not sure that I’m navigating Craigslist to it’s fullest potential with my “keywords.” Would appreciate any advice!

Amanda – Sure. In this case, I searched for “white.” (I have an affinity for painted white furniture.) And make sure you try all variations of a keyword when searching, ie. mirror, mirrors. Craigslist is hit or miss, so you may have to try your search every day for a week or more before you find something. Best of luck to you!
